Your CV will be the first impression that an employer has of you, so it is critical that you spend some time ensuring that your CV contains relevant information in order for you to stand out from the crowd and ensure you get that all important interview!
Your CV should include the following information
- Personal details - Make sure that you include your full name – Address – Contact Numbers/details (Home, mobile, email) – Nationality – Marital Status
- Employment History – Include your work history from your most recent role and working backwards. Ensure that you include dates of employment, Position Held, Duties and responsibilities. You can also choose to include salary and reason for leaving.
- Education, including qualifications and skills – Include education details and dates, including further education where relevant. Be sure to include any education qualifications and grades, as well as any vocational training courses and skills.
- Hobbies and interests - It is worth including this information as this will tell an employer the sort of character you are!
Above all, make sure that your CV is concise and easy to read. Ensure that all information is relevant to the role that you are applying for and truthful! Read through it prior to sending to any prospective employer and avoid spelling mistakes as this will imply that you have rushed this vital document and will show lack of attention to detail!
Good luck!
